500th BPL goal to be scored tonight

The 500th Barclays Premier League goal this season will be scored today and it could come in the early kick-off between Portsmouth and Liverpool.
Last season, it took 196 games to reach 500 goals. The goal was scored by Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.
In the 2007/08 season, teams took 188 to reach the same landmark, while in 2006/07, it took 216 games to see 500 goals scored in the Premier League.
The lowest-ever recorded was 185 in the 1994/95 season but this record will be broken this season with only 167 Premier League games played.
This season has already seen a number of high-scoring games, including Tottenham's 9-1 victory over Wigan Athletic, Arsenal's 6-2 win over Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United's 5-3 win over Burnley.
Top scorers are Chelsea with 42 goals while Arsenal are one behind, although the Gunners have played one less game.

If Arsenal continue at their current rate they will break through 100 goals for the season beating Manchester United's previous best of 97 goals in the 1999/2000 season.
